“Chip In For Pets” Rummage Sale March 12th

(Vero Beach, Florida) – Lakewood Park teen Miranda Krebs is helping The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) purchase microchip scanners by hosting “Chip in for Pets,” a bazaar and rummage sale on Saturday, March 12th from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The sale will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, located at 475 43rd Ave., Vero Beach. Free pet ID tags will also be available until 10:00 a.m. The event was created by Krebs for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project.

Krebs coordinated the rummage sale as a way to help the shelter acquire much-needed microchip scanners and educate the public about microchipping. The scanners cost approximately $400 each and need to be regularly replaced due to daily wear and tear. After learning that only two percent of all lost cats and sixteen percent of all dogs without identification are reunited with their families, Krebs also created informational materials to help educate the public about microchipping.

Vendor space at the “Chip in for Pets” events is still available. For more information call (772) 801-5321.
