Humane Society set to hold its first “Fix Fest”
Shelter preparing to spay and neuter 250 Indian River County animals this  May

(Vero Beach, Florida) – There’s great news to report from The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVBIRC). We recently received a donation to spay and neuter a whopping 250 county animals. Since we’re feeling quite festive we’ll need some local party animals to help us achieve this ambitious goal during our very first Fix Fest!

Thanks to a $5,000 grant from The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the shelter is preparing to sterilize 125 cats and 125 dogs throughout the month of May.

Beginning Friday, April 27, all interested Indian River County residents can schedule a cat spay/neuter for $10 and a dog spay/neuter for $20. Fix Fest services are free of charge to anyone showing proof of public assistance and county residency. Fix Fest prices are on a first-come, first-serve basis and will only apply to new surgeries scheduled April 27 or later to be performed in May.

The shelter’s Fix Fest prices include an exam, spay or neuter surgery and basic “core” vaccines. Some surgeries, such as those for females in heat or males with retained testicles, may incur a modest additional fee. Participants will need to show their photo ID and proof of residency when animals are brought in for surgery.

Fix Fest surgeries must be scheduled in advance and prepaid by debit card, credit card or cash. To book an appointment call The Humane Society’s Animal Wellness Clinic at (772) 388-0801 or visit the clinic Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Humane Society’s Animal Wellness Clinic is located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.

The HSVBIRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and protecting the animals of Indian River County.
