Humane Society Opens Animal Wellness Clinic January 2
(Vero Beach, Florida) – If your New Year’s resolution includes getting your pet spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) can help. Today the shelter announced its Animal Wellness Clinic will open on January 2, 2012 in its Adoption and Education building, located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.
“Our new Animal Wellness Clinic will offer affordable services to keep our community’s pets healthy,” HSVB & IRC Director of Animal Care Maria Ramirez explained. Ramirez said that spaying and neutering, basic animal health tests for heartworm, feline leukemia and FIV, core vaccinations, pet examinations, microchips and preventative medications to combat fleas, ticks and prevent heartworms will all be available. Appointments can be made beginning December 27 with all medical services provided by the shelter’s veterinary team.
All pet parents, regardless of income or county, are encouraged to take advantage of the clinic, which even offers cost-saving wellness packages for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Indian River County residents suffering from economic hardship can also receive aid for their pets through the Humane Society’s financial assistance program. “Our Animal Wellness Clinic allows us to fulfill our mission to help every animal,” HSVB & IRC Executive Director Chalmers Morse said. Morse described The Humane Society’s Animal Wellness Clinic as serving the dual purpose of keeping pets in the pink while hopefully generating funds to help the not-for-profit animal shelter care for the more than 6,000 homeless, injured, abused and abandoned animals it takes in annually.
The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and protecting animals. For more information about the HSVB & IRC’s Animal Wellness Clinic, visit the shelter’s website at www.hsvb.org or call (772) 388-3331 ext. 40.
